My principal research focus is to understand the chemical compositions of Earth’s mantle, oceanic lithosphere and hydrosphere, and more importantly, the interactions among them over geologic time. My basic approach is to apply principles of stable isotope fractionation, and element partitioning along with various analytical (mostly inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometer or ICP-MS and isotope ratio mass spectrometer or IR-MS) and experimental techniques. My research topics cover both high- and low-temperature geochemistry.
