I am broadly interested in the the gain and loss of intrinsic traits across the Tree of Life. I am particularly interested in the vertebrate nose! I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Bhullar lab and where I am studying the molecular and developmental basis of the nasal cavity in archosaurs and lepidosaurs. The picture to the right is a photo of me with a dwarf boa from the Dominican Republic.
My background encompasses molecular evolution, bioinformatics, phylogenetics, and neurobiology. I completed my PhD with Liliana Davalos at Stony Brook University. My dissertation focused on the molecular and morphological evolution of the olfactory and vomeronasal system in bats. Prior to my graduate experience, I worked as a Fulbright researcher in Vietnam where I studied the spatial distribution of babblers.
