I am interested in the fluid dynamics of ocean mixing and heat transport processes, focusing on the Arctic Ocean. My current research, advised by Prof. Mary-Louise Timmermans, combines theory and Arctic observations to investigate ocean mixing processes (double diffusion and shear-driven turbulence) that are responsible for vertical heat fluxes towards the Arctic’s overlying sea ice cover. I hope that this research will contribute to a better understanding of the Arctic Ocean’s influence on sea ice and Arctic climate.
I am also interested in ice-ocean dynamics on ice-covered moons in the solar system and the implications these hold for habitability.
