I am a field geologist broadly interested in reconstructing Earth’s history using its sedimentary record. My research combines sedimentology, stratigraphy, geochemistry and geochronology to decipher how interactions between geological and biological processes have regulated our planet’s environment through time. I am currently investigating various 1.2 to 0.8 billion-year-old sedimentary basins through the lens of geobiology, with an emphasis on the lower Tonian Veteranen Group in Svalbard. This work aims to shed light on the environmental landscape in which early animals and crown group eukaryotes emerged, and also to test various trigger mechanisms for Cryogenian Snowball glaciation.
