Alex Ruebenstahl

I was born and raised in Connecticut and did my undergraduate and masters at George Washington University.  Now I am a Vertebrate Paleontology graduate student in Anjan Bhullars lab. My area of interest is in great transitions within Archosaurs (the group that includes Crocodiles, Pterosaurs, Dinosaurs and birds). 

My current research is on understanding the changes occuring in the  early crocodylomorphs known as ‘sphenosuchians’ that are inherited by modern crocodilians. I am also working on various members of a group of dinosaurs known as coelurosaurs. This group includes many strange bird like organisms and more famous animals like Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor mongoliensis and living birds. Understanding the changes that occur in these animals helps us to understand the origins of many features in birds today, which arose from coelurosaurs.
