I’m Beck (he/him), a Postgraduate Associate working for Dr. Noah Planavsky. My work involves helping Dr. Planavsky and colleagues with multiple enhanced silicate weathering (ESW) projects. I am specifically focused on the governance and logistics aspects of these projects—ranging from direct outreach to economics and policy research. I have a strong interest in environmental solutions, which particularly drew me to carbon capture technologies. Environmental governance and administration have been consistent focus areas throughout my early life, and I am incredibly excited to keep exploring them in this role.
I graduated from Carleton College in 2023 with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and a minor in Public Policy. During my undergraduate years, I also participated in economics research with Dr. Mark Kanazawa on California groundwater management and in political science research with Dr. Barbara Allen focused on how local TV in the Upper Midwest covered the 2008 and 2016 elections. At Carleton, I was a founder and lead developer for a new offset project under consideration by Carleton to address its hard-to-abate emissions. I also served as Student Manager in the Carleton Sustainability Office and as a Senator of Carleton’s student government. I was actively involved in the college’s environmental policy decisions in each of these roles.
